- Hull and rinse 1 pound of strawberries. Cut any especially large berries in half so they blend easily.
- Add the strawberries, sugar, lime juice, and 2 cups of the cold water to a blender. Blend for 30 to 60 seconds, or until the mixture looks smooth.
- Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, gently pressing the pulp to release the liquid. Skip straining if you prefer a thicker, more rustic drink.
- Stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Taste and adjust with more sugar, lime juice, or water as needed.
- Chill for 30 to 60 minutes if desired, then pour over ice. Garnish with lime wedges or sliced strawberries before serving.
Notes
Use fully ripe strawberries for the fullest flavor. Sugar dissolves well during blending, but begin with less if preferred and adjust after adding all the water. Refrigerate leftovers and use within 1 to 2 days; stir before serving because natural settling may occur.
