Polar Bear Nutter Butter Cookies: A Cute No-Bake Treat Idea

Polar Bear Nutter Butter Cookies

A no-bake decorated cookie treat made with Nutter Butter cookies, white candy coating, candy eyes, and simple polar bear facial features. This recipe makes about 12–16 cookies, depending on package size and coating used.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 12 servings

Ingredients

Cookies and Coating
  • 12–16 cookies Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
  • 12 ounces White candy melts or white almond bark
Decorations
  • 24–32 eyes Candy eyes
  • 12–16 pieces Small black candies or mini chocolate chips
  • as needed Black decorating icing
  • as needed Pink decorating icing or pink sprinkles
Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable shortening or coconut oil

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper and set it beside your work area. Have the candy eyes, black candies or mini chocolate chips, and optional decorating icing ready before melting the coating.
  2. Melt the white candy melts according to the package directions, usually in the microwave in 20–30-second intervals. Stir thoroughly after every interval until the coating is smooth, and stir in a small amount of vegetable shortening or coconut oil if it seems too thick.
  3. Dip each Nutter Butter cookie into the melted coating, turning it carefully so all sides are covered. Lift the cookie out with a fork or dipping tool, then tap the fork gently on the bowl so excess coating drips back and the base does not develop a thick puddle.
  4. Place the coated cookie on the lined baking sheet. While the coating is still soft, add two candy eyes and one black candy or mini chocolate chip for the nose.
  5. Use black decorating icing to add a small mouth, if desired. Add pink icing or pink sprinkles for tiny inner-ear or cheek details, working quickly before the coating firms.
  6. Allow the cookies to stand at room temperature until firm, or refrigerate them for about 10 minutes. Once set, transfer them to an airtight container and keep them at cool room temperature.

Notes

Work in small batches and decorate each cookie immediately after dipping because the candy coating sets quickly. White candy melts generally provide a smoother, more reliable coating than white chocolate chips.
