Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 24 cookies OREO sandwich cookies
  • 12 ounces (340 g) Pink, red, white, or chocolate candy melts
Decorations
  • 1/4 cup Valentine’s Day sprinkles
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon Shortening or coconut oil
  • 2 ounces Contrasting candy melts for drizzling

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Have the OREO cookies, sprinkles, fork, and any optional drizzle ingredients ready before melting the coating.
  2. Place the 12 ounces of candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval, until the coating is smooth.
  3. Dip one OREO into the melted coating and turn it carefully with a fork until fully covered. Lift the cookie with the fork and tap the fork gently against the bowl to let excess coating drain away.
  4. Transfer the coated cookie to the lined baking sheet. Add Valentine’s sprinkles immediately while the coating is still soft.
  5. If using a second color, melt 2 ounces of contrasting candy melts separately and drizzle it over the dipped cookies. Let the cookies set at room temperature for 10–20 minutes or refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
  6. Once firm, move the cookies to an airtight container. Store them at room temperature unless your kitchen is unusually warm.

Notes

Candy melts are generally easier than chocolate chips because they melt smoothly and set firmly without tempering. If the coating is unusually thick, stir in about 1 teaspoon of shortening or coconut oil; never add water because it can cause the coating to seize.
