Ingredients

Crust
  • 1 pound Refrigerated or prepared pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon Melted butter, for brushing
Apple Topping
  • 3 medium Medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
Crumb Topping
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Glaze
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper.
  2. Roll or stretch 1 pound of pizza dough into a roughly 12-inch round or oval. Transfer it to the prepared pan and brush the surface lightly with 1 tablespoon melted butter.
  3. Toss the peeled, cored, thinly sliced apples with the granulated sugar, cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange the apples over the dough in a fairly even layer, leaving about a 1/2-inch border around the edge.
  5. Combine the crumb-topping flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter with a fork or fingertips until coarse crumbs form, then scatter the crumbs over the apples.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the crust is golden brown, the apples are tender, and the crumb topping is lightly browned.
  7. Cool the pizza for 10–15 minutes. Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla into a pourable glaze, then drizzle it over the warm pizza.
  8. Slice the dessert pizza into wedges and serve warm.

Notes

Slice apples uniformly and about 1/8 inch thick so they soften during the same baking time as the crust. Do not pile on too many apples or add excess liquid from the bowl. For a crisper base, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding the toppings. Chopped walnuts or pecans may be added to the crumb topping using about 1/3 cup, and caramel sauce can be drizzled over the finished pizza in place of or in addition to the glaze.
