Step-by-Step
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for about 3 minutes. If your model does not require preheating, you may start with a cold basket, but the burgers may need slightly more cooking time.
- Add the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper to a bowl. Mix gently just until the seasonings are distributed, taking care not to overwork the beef.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions of about 4 ounces each. Shape each portion into a patty approximately 4 inches wide and 3/4-inch thick, then press a shallow indentation into the center.
- Arrange the patties in a single layer in the air-fryer basket, leaving space around them. Air-fry at 375°F for 5 to 6 minutes.
- Flip each patty and cook for another 4 to 6 minutes, or until the centers reach 160°F. Add a cheese slice during the final 30 to 60 seconds if desired.
- Rest the burgers for 2 to 3 minutes, then serve them on toasted buns with your chosen toppings. Use an instant-read thermometer to confirm the safe temperature rather than relying only on the clock.
Notes
Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest burgers. Do not overcrowd the air-fryer basket, and remember that patty thickness, beef fat content, and air-fryer model can change the exact cooking time.
