Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 ounces Fresh goat cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup Heavy cream or sour cream
  • 1 clove Garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch Red-pepper flakes, optional
For Serving
  • As needed Toasted baguette slices, crackers, pita chips, or raw vegetables

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 375°F. Let the goat cheese and cream cheese sit at room temperature until softened.
  2. In a bowl, beat or stir together the goat cheese, cream cheese, Parmesan, cream, garlic, olive oil, basil, thyme, salt, black pepper, and optional red-pepper flakes until mostly smooth.
  3. Spoon the mixture into a small shallow gratin dish, ovenproof skillet, or baking dish measuring about 1 to 1 1/2 quarts.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, watching closely near the end, until the dip is hot, softened, and lightly golden around the edges.
  5. Garnish with additional fresh herbs and a small drizzle of olive oil. Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices, crackers, pita chips, or raw vegetables.

Notes

Use a shallow baking dish for even heating and a lightly browned surface. Do not overbake, because goat cheese can become firmer and drier when heated too long.
