Step-by-Step
- Place the chicken breasts in the slow-cooker insert. Whisk the honey, low-sodium soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, olive oil, toasted sesame oil, crushed red-pepper flakes, and black pepper in a bowl until combined.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken, cover the slow cooker, and cook on LOW for 3–4 hours or HIGH for 1½–2 hours. Cook until the chicken is tender and reaches 165°F in the thickest part.
- Remove the cooked chicken from the slow cooker and shred or slice it. Return the chicken to the crockpot and toss it with the sauce before serving.
- Spoon the chicken and sauce over rice. Finish with sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions.
Notes
Use low-sodium soy sauce to prevent an overly salty sauce. Check chicken breasts early because slow cookers vary. For thicker sauce, stir together 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 3 tablespoons cold water, add the slurry to the hot sauce after removing the chicken, and cook on HIGH for about 10–15 minutes.
