Step-by-Step
- Place the ground beef in a large bowl. Add the Sazón seasoning, minced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper.
- Mix gently with your hands or a fork only until the ingredients are evenly distributed. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick, pressing a shallow indentation into the center of each.
- Optionally chill or rest the shaped patties for 10–15 minutes. Meanwhile, heat a grill, grill pan, or heavy skillet over medium-high heat, lightly oiling the surface if needed.
- Cook the patties for approximately 4–5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Add cheese during the final minute if desired, and verify that the burgers reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- Toast the hamburger buns, then build each burger with lettuce, tomato, sliced onion, and any other desired toppings. Serve immediately while the patties are hot and juicy.
Notes
Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest texture, and avoid overmixing or compacting the meat. Sazón blends and packet sizes vary, so use one individual envelope and do not add extra salt unless needed after assessing the seasoning. Refrigerate leftovers promptly and reheat gently until hot.
