Refreshing Watermelon Smoothie Bowls Recipe

Refreshing Watermelon Smoothie Bowls

A thick summer smoothie bowl made with frozen watermelon, banana, yogurt, and lime juice. The fruit provides natural sweetness and vibrant flavor, while yogurt adds creaminess and body.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 4 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

Smoothie Bowl Base
  • 4 cups (about 600 g) Seedless watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes and frozen
  • 1 medium Medium ripe banana, sliced and frozen
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) Plain Greek yogurt or unsweetened yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml), added only as needed Coconut water, coconut milk, or milk
Optional Sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon, optional Honey or maple syrup
Suggested Toppings
  • 1/2 cup Granola
  • 1/2 cup Fresh berries
  • 1 tablespoon Chia seeds or hemp seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Shredded coconut
  • as needed Fresh mint leaves
  • as needed Lime zest

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Cut the seedless watermelon into 1-inch cubes and slice the banana. Arrange both fruits in a single layer on a parchment-lined tray, then freeze for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.
  2. Add the frozen watermelon, frozen banana, yogurt, and lime juice to a high-powered blender or food processor. Keep the liquid nearby, but do not add it all at once.
  3. Blend until the fruit begins to break down, stopping to scrape the sides as needed. Add coconut water, coconut milk, or milk 1 tablespoon at a time until smooth but very thick.
  4. Taste the blended mixture before sweetening it. Add the honey or maple syrup only if the fruit needs extra sweetness.
  5. Spoon the thick smoothie mixture immediately into two bowls. For an especially firm texture, freeze the prepared smoothie for 10 to 15 minutes before adding toppings.
  6. Top each bowl with granola, fresh berries, chia or hemp seeds, shredded coconut, mint leaves, and lime zest. Serve at once while the bowl is cold and spoonable.

Notes

Freeze the fruit in a single layer so the pieces do not form one solid block. Because watermelon contains considerable water, add very little liquid and use a blender tamper or pause to scrape the sides. Greek yogurt may be omitted for a dairy-free bowl.
