Refreshing Mint Lime Sparkling Water Recipe

Refreshing Mint Lime Sparkling Water Recipe

A crisp, bubbly nonalcoholic drink made with fresh lime, mint, ice, and chilled sparkling water. Sweetener is optional, so each serving can be adjusted from tart and refreshing to limeade-style.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups (480 ml) Chilled plain sparkling water, seltzer, or club soda
  • 1 medium Medium lime
  • 10–12 leaves Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup Ice
Optional Sweetener
  • 1–2 teaspoons Simple syrup, honey, or sugar

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Wash the lime and mint thoroughly. Juice half of the lime, then cut the remaining half into wedges or thin slices.
  2. Add the lime juice, mint leaves, and optional sweetener to a glass or small pitcher.
  3. Gently muddle or press the mint 4–5 times to release its aroma. Do not crush it aggressively, since overworking the leaves can create a grassy or bitter flavor.
  4. Add the ice and lime wedges to the glass or pitcher.
  5. Pour in the chilled sparkling water and stir gently once or twice to combine while preserving the carbonation.
  6. Garnish with a mint sprig and lime slice, then serve immediately.

Notes

Use freshly squeezed lime juice and very cold sparkling water for the brightest flavor and strongest fizz. Club soda gives a slightly mineral, salty profile, while sparkling mineral water has a fuller flavor. For a sweeter limeade-style drink, use 1 tablespoon (15 ml) simple syrup per serving.
