Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8- or 9-inch ovenproof skillet so the dip is easier to scoop and serve.
- In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sour cream, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder until smooth. Stir in half of the mozzarella, all of the Parmesan, and about half of the pepperoni.
- Spread the cream-cheese mixture evenly in the prepared skillet. Spoon the pizza sauce over the surface and gently spread it into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and pepperoni over the sauce. Add optional green bell pepper, olives, mushrooms, or cooked Italian sausage, making sure watery toppings have been drained.
- Bake for 18–25 minutes, until the dip is hot, bubbling around the edges, and the cheese is fully melted with golden spots. For a browner topping, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end while watching closely.
- Let the skillet rest for 5 minutes before serving. This short pause allows the dip to thicken slightly, making each scoop creamy rather than runny.
Notes
Soften the cream cheese completely before mixing to prevent lumps. Use low-moisture, freshly shredded mozzarella for the best melt, and drain watery toppings before adding them. Serve hot with toasted baguette slices, breadsticks, crackers, or pizza dough strips. Refrigerate leftovers and reheat gently until hot.
