Step-by-Step
- Beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until the mixture is evenly combined and fluffy.
- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the prepared graham cracker crust. Keep the layer even so the fruit can be distributed from edge to edge.
- Layer the thoroughly drained crushed pineapple, sliced bananas, and sliced strawberries over the filling. Arrange the fruit gently so the crust stays intact.
- Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture over the fruit layer. Smooth the top with a spatula, then drizzle with chocolate syrup.
- Garnish with 8 maraschino cherries and optional chopped nuts. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the pie is chilled and firm, before slicing.
Notes
Drain the pineapple very well to help prevent a soggy crust and loose filling. For the freshest appearance, assemble close to serving time; if preparing several hours ahead, slice the bananas just before layering or lightly coat them with lemon juice to slow browning.
