Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment if desired.
- Whisk the melted, slightly cooled butter and brown sugar together. Beat in the eggs and vanilla, then mix in the mashed bananas.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture just until no dry flour remains.
- Spread approximately half of the batter into the prepared pan. Add several spoonfuls of Nutella, then cover with the remaining batter and the rest of the spread.
- Gently swirl the Nutella with a knife, avoiding deep or excessive swirling. Bake for 50–60 minutes, checking for a toothpick inserted into the banana-bread portion to come out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool the loaf in the pan for about 10–15 minutes, then transfer it to a rack. Let it cool further before slicing.
Notes
Use heavily speckled bananas for the best flavor and moisture. Warm the Nutella for about 10–15 seconds in the microwave if it is difficult to spoon. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil during the final 15–20 minutes of baking.
