Ingredients

Dry Hot Chocolate Mix
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 cups Nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
For One Serving
  • 8 ounces Hot milk or hot water
  • 3 tablespoons Hot chocolate mix

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Sift the powdered sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, nonfat dry milk powder, salt, and cornstarch into a large bowl.
  2. Whisk the sifted ingredients thoroughly until the color and texture are completely uniform.
  3. Transfer the dry mix to a clean, airtight container and keep it in a cool, dry pantry.
  4. To make one serving, combine 3 tablespoons of mix with 8 ounces of milk or hot water. Heat the liquid until steaming but do not boil, then whisk until the mix dissolves completely.

Notes

The recipe makes about 5 1/2 cups of dry mix, or approximately 25 servings at 3 tablespoons each. Use 2 tablespoons for a lighter cup. Store sealed at room temperature for about 2–3 months when the dry milk powder is fresh and the container stays dry.
