Ingredients

Smoothie Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsweetened almond milk, or another milk of choice
  • 1 packed cup Baby spinach
  • 1 cup Frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 medium Ripe banana, preferably frozen
  • 1/2 cup Plain Greek yogurt
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon Chia seeds or ground flaxseed
  • 1 teaspoon Honey or maple syrup, if additional sweetness is needed
  • 3-4 ice cubes Ice cubes, especially when fruit or banana is not frozen

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Add the almond milk and packed baby spinach to a blender first. Blend briefly until the spinach is mostly liquefied.
  2. Add the frozen mixed berries, half banana, plain Greek yogurt, and optional chia seeds or ground flaxseed. This order helps the liquid ingredients move the leafy greens into the blades before the thicker ingredients are added.
  3. Blend on high for 45-60 seconds, or until completely smooth. Scrape down the sides only if needed, and continue blending until no noticeable spinach pieces remain.
  4. Check the consistency and add a little more milk if the smoothie is too thick. Add 3-4 ice cubes if a colder, thicker texture is desired, especially if the fruit or banana was not frozen.
  5. Taste the smoothie before sweetening it. Add the optional honey or maple syrup only if the berries and ripe banana do not provide enough sweetness, then serve immediately.

Notes

Frozen berries and frozen banana create better thickness and stronger berry flavor than using a large amount of ice. For a dairy-free version, replace the Greek yogurt with silken tofu or additional milk. The smoothie is best served immediately for its freshest flavor and texture.
