Everything Bagel Seasoning Dip: Easy, Creamy Recipe

Everything Bagel Seasoning Dip

A creamy, no-cook appetizer made with cream cheese, sour cream, and everything bagel seasoning. It comes together in minutes and tastes best after a short chill in the refrigerator.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 ounces (226 g) Full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) Sour cream
Seasoning
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons, plus more for garnish Everything bagel seasoning
Optional Add-Ins
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh chives or scallions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature until softened. This usually takes 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the temperature of your kitchen.
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese and sour cream together in a mixing bowl until creamy and lump-free. Scrape down the sides of the bowl so the texture is evenly smooth.
  3. Mix in 2 tablespoons of everything bagel seasoning. Add the chopped chives or scallions, lemon juice, and garlic powder if using.
  4. Taste the dip and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of seasoning if you want a stronger bagel flavor. Additional salt is usually unnecessary because commercial everything seasoning blends are often already salty.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Chilling gives the dried onion, garlic, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds time to flavor the creamy base.
  6. Just before serving, sprinkle the top with extra everything bagel seasoning. Arrange bagel chips, toasted bread, crackers, pretzels, cucumber slices, celery, or carrots around the bowl.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese rather than melted cream cheese because melted cream cheese can make the dip thin and slightly greasy. For a looser, more scoopable dip, use 1 cup sour cream with the 8-ounce package of cream cheese. For a thicker, spread-like consistency, keep the sour cream at 1/2 cup. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container and serve chilled.
