- In a large bowl, whisk the sweetened condensed milk, root beer, and root beer extract until evenly combined.
- Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping. Use a light hand and stop as soon as the mixture is blended so the filling stays fluffy and aerated.
- Spoon the filling into the prepared 9-inch graham cracker crust and smooth the top with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Cover the pie and freeze it for at least 6 hours. For the firmest slice and cleanest presentation, freeze it overnight.
- Let the frozen pie stand at room temperature for about 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish each serving with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry if desired.
Notes
Root beer extract is optional but recommended because carbonation contributes little after mixing, while the extract gives the pie a more recognizable root beer flavor. Keep the pie frozen until shortly before serving because it softens quickly once removed from the freezer.
