Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

Margarita Mixture
  • 4 ounces Pineapple juice, preferably unsweetened
  • 4 ounces Blanco tequila
  • 2 ounces Triple sec or Cointreau
  • 2 ounces Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ounce Agave syrup, optional
Serving
  • 1 cup for rocks or 2½–3 cups for frozen Ice
  • As needed Kosher salt or coarse margarita salt
  • As needed Lime wedges and pineapple pieces

Method

On the Rocks
  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of two glasses, then dip only the outside edge into coarse salt. Add tequila, triple sec, pineapple juice, lime juice, agave, and about 1 cup of ice to a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. Fill the prepared glasses with fresh ice, strain the margaritas over the ice, and garnish with lime or pineapple.
Frozen
  1. Add tequila, triple sec, pineapple juice, lime juice, agave, and 2½–3 cups of ice to a blender. Blend just until smooth and slushy, adding a small amount of extra ice only if needed. Pour into salted glasses and garnish with lime or pineapple.

Notes

Blanco tequila is the standard choice because its clean flavor complements pineapple and lime. Chill the pineapple juice and tequila before mixing, use fresh lime juice for the brightest flavor, and blend the frozen version only until smooth so it does not become thin.
