Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
- Add the undrained peaches and syrup to the prepared dish. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, optional nutmeg, and melted butter; if the peaches are packed in juice or seem especially liquid, mix in the optional flour or cornstarch.
- Separate the cinnamon rolls and cut each roll into 2 or 3 pieces. Arrange the pieces evenly over the peaches, leaving small gaps between them, and reserve the packaged icing.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the filling bubbles around the edges and the biscuit pieces are puffed, golden brown, and cooked through in the centers.
- Let the cobbler stand for 10 to 15 minutes so the sauce can thicken. Drizzle with the reserved icing and serve warm.
Notes
Do not drain peaches packed in heavy syrup because the syrup becomes the cobbler sauce. For a less sweet version, use peaches packed in juice, drain a few tablespoons of liquid, and reduce the brown sugar to 1/4 cup. Add icing after baking so it does not melt and burn.
