Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Add the frozen, fully cooked meatballs and marinara sauce to the dish, then stir gently so the meatballs are coated.
- Separate the biscuits and cut each one into quarters or eighths. Toss the biscuit pieces with some of the sauce, or arrange them evenly over the sauced meatballs so they are spread out rather than tightly packed.
- Cover the casserole with about 1 cup of shredded mozzarella. Sprinkle the Parmesan and Italian seasoning over the top if using.
- Bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes, until the biscuits are puffed, golden brown, and cooked through in the center and the meatballs are hot. If the biscuit tops brown too quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil and continue baking.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the baked casserole and return it to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Rest the casserole for about 5 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
Cut the biscuits fairly small and spread them out to help the centers bake fully. Use refrigerated or thawed fully cooked meatballs rather than raw meatballs. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container and reheat individual portions until hot.
