Ingredients

Danish Pastries
  • 1 8-ounce tube Refrigerated crescent-roll dough
  • 1 cup Apple pie filling, chopped into smaller pieces if necessary
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg, optional
Glaze
  • 1/2 cup Confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Milk, plus more as needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract, optional

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles.
  2. Stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional nutmeg. Spoon about 1 to 2 tablespoons of chopped apple pie filling onto the wide end of each triangle, then brush or drizzle with some of the butter mixture.
  3. Roll each triangle from the wide end toward the point, curve the pastries slightly, and arrange them with space between each one. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  4. Let the pastries cool for about 10 minutes. Whisk the confectioners’ sugar, milk, and optional vanilla into a smooth glaze, adding a little more milk only if needed, then drizzle over the Danish pastries.

Notes

Chop large apple slices before filling so they do not spill while rolling. Avoid overfilling the crescents, and allow the pastries to cool briefly before icing so the glaze remains visible.
