Servings: 12 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 750 ml Plain vodka
  • 12–15 candy canes Regular peppermint candy canes, broken into pieces
Optional Garnish
  • As needed Extra candy canes or crushed peppermint candy

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Unwrap 12–15 candy canes and break them into small pieces. Place the pieces in a clean, sealable wide-mouth glass jar.
  2. Pour the 750 ml of plain vodka into the jar, seal it tightly, and shake well to coat the candy.
  3. Leave the jar at room temperature for 3–8 hours, shaking every 30–60 minutes initially, until the candy has dissolved and the vodka is evenly colored.
  4. Strain the infused vodka through a fine-mesh strainer. For a clearer drink, strain it a second time through a coffee filter.
  5. Transfer the candy cane vodka to a clean bottle or jar and chill it in the refrigerator or freezer before serving.

Notes

Use an inexpensive but smooth unflavored vodka. The mixture may also be refrigerated or stored overnight, up to 24 hours, for a deeper color and peppermint flavor. Keep it sealed in the refrigerator or freezer and discard it if the odor, flavor, or appearance becomes unusual.
