Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 ounces Medium egg noodles
  • 2 cups Fully cooked ham, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 10 3/4-ounce can Condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup Dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Butter, melted

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
  2. Cook the medium egg noodles according to the package directions, stopping when they are just tender. Drain them well.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cubed ham, undiluted cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stir the drained noodles into the creamy ham mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the noodle mixture to the greased casserole dish and sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Combine the dry breadcrumbs with the melted butter, then scatter the buttery crumbs over the cheese.
  7. Bake the casserole uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until hot throughout and lightly browned on top. Let it stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Cook the noodles only until just tender so they do not become soft during baking. Shred Swiss cheese from a block for a smoother melt and stronger cheese flavor. If the topping browns too quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat until hot.
