Easy Cheesy Omelet Recipe

A quick, tender omelet made with two eggs, melted cheddar cheese, and simple pantry ingredients. It is ready in about 10 minutes and makes one satisfying breakfast serving.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 1 servings

Ingredients

Omelet
  • 2 eggs Large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Milk or water
  • 1/8 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Butter
Filling and Garnish
  • 1/4 cup, about 1 ounce Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon, optional Chopped chives or parsley

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Crack the eggs into a bowl. Add the milk or water, salt, and black pepper, then beat until the yolks and whites are fully combined.
  2. Place a small nonstick skillet over medium-low to medium heat. Add the butter and tilt the skillet so the melted butter coats the cooking surface.
  3. Pour in the beaten eggs and let them sit for about 20–30 seconds. Gently push the set edges toward the center while tilting the skillet so uncooked egg flows underneath.
  4. When the top is mostly set but still slightly moist, sprinkle the shredded cheddar over one half of the omelet.
  5. Fold the omelet in half and cook for another 30–60 seconds, just until the cheese melts.
  6. Slide the omelet onto a plate and garnish with chopped chives or parsley, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use a small nonstick skillet and medium-low heat for a soft omelet. Remove it while the top is still slightly glossy because residual heat will finish cooking the eggs.
