Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 6-8 inch tortillas Small flour tortillas
  • 1 20-21 ounce can Apple pie filling
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
Serving
  • 1/2-1 cup Prepared caramel sauce

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  2. Chop the apple pieces in the pie filling into smaller pieces. Drain excess syrup if the filling is especially wet.
  3. Mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  4. Warm the tortillas for a few seconds in the microwave. Spoon about 2–3 tablespoons of apple filling onto the lower third of each tortilla.
  5. Roll each tortilla tightly and place it seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle generously with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the tortillas are lightly crisp and golden.
  8. Drizzle the warm taquitos with caramel sauce or serve the sauce on the side. Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

Warm tortillas before filling to prevent cracking. Do not overfill or use overly wet apple filling. Add caramel after baking for the best caramelized finish and to prevent sticking or scorching.
