Step-by-Step
- Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature so it blends smoothly. Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy and completely lump-free.
- Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until combined. If using lemon juice or lemon zest, add it carefully during this stage.
- Fold in the blueberry pie filling with a spatula, stopping when the dip is combined but still has a few visible blueberry streaks if desired. Avoid vigorous mixing because it can make the dip loose and uniformly purple.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, cover it, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Garnish with extra blueberry pie filling, fresh blueberries, whipped cream, or graham-cracker crumbs before serving.
Notes
Use softened cream cheese and beat it completely smooth before adding other ingredients to prevent lumps. Chill the dip before serving so the texture firms and the flavors blend. Do not freeze it because the whipped topping can become watery after thawing.
