Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Bulk pork breakfast sausage
  • 1 10-ounce can Refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 6 Large eggs
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar cheese
Gravy
  • 1 package, about 2.75 ounces Country-style gravy mix
  • 1 cup, or amount specified on package Water
For the Pan
  • As needed Cooking spray or butter

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Brown the pork breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Cut the refrigerated biscuits into roughly 1-inch pieces and distribute them evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Spread the cooked sausage over the biscuit pieces. Whisk the eggs and pour them evenly over the sausage and biscuits.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese over the casserole. Prepare the country gravy mix with water according to the package directions, then pour it evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the eggs are set, the biscuits are cooked through, and the top is lightly browned.
  7. Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Cut the biscuits into small, even pieces so they cook consistently and absorb the gravy. Check the casserole near 30 minutes; if the center is loose, continue baking. If the top browns too quickly, cover it loosely with foil. For richer gravy, prepare the packet with milk when the package permits.
