Method
Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- Brown the pork breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Cut the refrigerated biscuits into roughly 1-inch pieces and distribute them evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the cooked sausage over the biscuit pieces. Whisk the eggs and pour them evenly over the sausage and biscuits.
- Sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese over the casserole. Prepare the country gravy mix with water according to the package directions, then pour it evenly over the top.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the eggs are set, the biscuits are cooked through, and the top is lightly browned.
- Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Cut the biscuits into small, even pieces so they cook consistently and absorb the gravy. Check the casserole near 30 minutes; if the center is loose, continue baking. If the top browns too quickly, cover it loosely with foil. For richer gravy, prepare the packet with milk when the package permits.
