  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 10.5-ounce can Condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Dill pickles, chopped
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 28–32-ounce package Frozen tater tots or shredded hash browns
Big Mac-Style Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 teaspoon Paprika, optional
For Serving
  • As needed Shredded iceberg lettuce
  • As needed Additional diced dill pickles
  • As needed Diced onion
  • As needed Sesame seeds, optional
  • As needed Thousand Island or Big Mac-style sauce

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 6–8 minutes, breaking the meat into small crumbles as it cooks. Drain the skillet well if needed.
  3. Add the minced garlic, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook for 30–60 seconds, just until the garlic smells fragrant.
  4. Stir in the ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, condensed cheddar cheese soup, and milk. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Stir in the chopped dill pickles and 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Arrange the frozen tater tots or shredded hash browns over the beef mixture, then sprinkle the remaining 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 35–45 minutes, until the casserole is hot and bubbling and the potatoes are browned. If your frozen potato package lists different timing, follow the package directions.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Add shredded lettuce, extra pickles, diced onion, sesame seeds, and burger sauce immediately before eating.

Notes

For the sauce, mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish, and optional 1/4 teaspoon paprika. Refrigerate until needed. For stronger Big Mac flavor, add about 1 tablespoon pickle juice to the sauce. Use 90–93% lean beef and drain the skillet well for a less greasy casserole.
