Step-by-Step
- Peel and core the pineapple, then cut it into fairly even bite-size chunks or wedges. Pat the pieces dry with paper towels to remove excess juice and help them brown instead of steam.
- In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, packed brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional pinch of salt. Add the optional lime juice for a brighter flavor or vanilla for a softer dessert-style aroma.
- Toss the pineapple with the butter mixture until every piece is lightly and evenly coated. Take a moment to scrape the bowl so the cinnamon-sugar mixture is distributed throughout.
- Arrange the pineapple in a single layer in the air-fryer basket. Leave space between pieces, and cook in batches if needed.
- Air-fry at 380°F for about 8 to 10 minutes, turning or shaking halfway through. Continue toward the 12-minute end of the range if necessary, cooking until the pineapple is hot, caramelized, and lightly browned at the edges.
- Serve warm with your choice of vanilla ice cream, yogurt, coconut, or chopped nuts. Enjoy the pineapple immediately for the juiciest texture and best contrast between the warm fruit and cool toppings.
Notes
Fresh pineapple gives the best texture and browning. Canned pineapple can be used if it is drained very well and patted dry. Avoid overcrowding the air-fryer basket, and cook in batches so hot air can circulate around each piece.
