Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 15-ounce cans Sliced peaches in heavy syrup, undrained
  • 1 15.25-ounce box Yellow cake mix, dry
  • 1 cup Unsalted or salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Set the prepared dish aside while you assemble the cobbler.
  2. Pour both cans of sliced peaches and all of their heavy syrup evenly into the baking dish. Do not drain the peaches because the syrup provides the moisture needed to soften the cake mix.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the peaches. Use the cake mix straight from the box and do not prepare it with the box directions.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the dry cake-mix layer. Drizzle the melted butter slowly across the entire surface, covering as much of the mix as possible.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and peach juices bubble around the edges. Let the cobbler stand for 10–15 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Heavy syrup is important because it supplies moisture and sweetness. Distribute the melted butter carefully so uncovered patches of cake mix do not remain powdery. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
