Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C), then line a standard 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
- Add the dry white cake mix, Sprite, and eggs to a large mixing bowl. Whisk or beat just until the batter is smooth and combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the tops spring back lightly and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool the cupcakes in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. Cool completely before adding frosting or whipped topping.
Notes
Use the full 12-ounce can of soda, adding it gradually if the batter seems unusually thin because cake-mix brands absorb liquid differently. Avoid overmixing, overfilling, and overbaking. Store cooled, frosted cupcakes covered at room temperature for a short period or refrigerate if the topping requires it.
