Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 12 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) White cake mix, dry
  • 1 can (12 fluid ounces) Sprite or another clear lemon-lime soda
  • 3 Large eggs
Optional Decoration
  • As needed Prepared vanilla frosting or whipped topping

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C), then line a standard 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
  2. Add the dry white cake mix, Sprite, and eggs to a large mixing bowl. Whisk or beat just until the batter is smooth and combined.
  3. Divide the batter evenly among the liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  4. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the tops spring back lightly and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Cool the cupcakes in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. Cool completely before adding frosting or whipped topping.

Notes

Use the full 12-ounce can of soda, adding it gradually if the batter seems unusually thin because cake-mix brands absorb liquid differently. Avoid overmixing, overfilling, and overbaking. Store cooled, frosted cupcakes covered at room temperature for a short period or refrigerate if the topping requires it.
