Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 15-ounce cans Sliced peaches in heavy syrup or peach juice, undrained
  • 1 15.25-ounce box Yellow cake mix, dry
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter, melted or cut into very thin slices

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  2. Pour both cans of peaches, including all of the syrup or juice, evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the peaches. Do not stir the layers together.
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, or arrange very thin butter slices across the entire surface.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges.
  6. Let the dump cake stand for 10–15 minutes before serving warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Keep the peaches undrained because the syrup or juice hydrates the cake mix. For the most evenly browned topping, slice cold butter very thinly and cover as much of the dry cake mix as possible.
