Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 breasts Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, about 6–8 ounces each
  • 1 12-fluid-ounce can Sprite or another lemon-lime soda
Seasoning
  • 1 packet, about 0.7–1 ounce Dry Italian dressing seasoning mix
Optional Creamy Sauce
  • 1 10.5-ounce can Condensed cream of chicken soup

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot. If they are very thick, pound them to a more even thickness so they cook more uniformly.
  2. Sprinkle the dry Italian dressing seasoning mix evenly over the chicken.
  3. Spoon the condensed cream of chicken soup over the chicken if using it for a thicker, creamier sauce.
  4. Pour the Sprite around and over the chicken. Do not add extra water.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the chicken and let it rest briefly. Serve whole, sliced, or shredded with the cooking sauce.

Notes

For especially moist meat, use boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Avoid lifting the lid repeatedly, use an instant-read thermometer, and never cook chicken from frozen in a slow cooker.
