- Rinse the asparagus and dry it thoroughly. Snap or cut away the tough woody ends.
- Place the asparagus in a bowl and toss it with olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Add the Parmesan if using.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C), if the manufacturer recommends preheating.
- Arrange the asparagus in a single layer in the air-fryer basket, leaving space around the spears. Cook in batches if needed.
- Air-fry for 6–10 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the asparagus halfway through. Begin checking thin spears after 5–6 minutes; thick spears may need 8–10 minutes.
- Serve immediately with additional Parmesan and lemon wedges, if desired.
Notes
Dry the asparagus very well before seasoning, and avoid crowding the basket because excess moisture and poor airflow can prevent browning. Cooking time varies by spear thickness and air-fryer model.
