Crispy Air Fryer Potatoes and Onions Recipe

Crispy Air Fryer Potatoes and Onions

Baby potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes are seasoned with garlic, paprika, herbs, salt, and pepper, then air-fried with sweet onion wedges until crisp outside and tender inside. Adding the onions halfway through helps prevent them from browning too quickly.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • pounds Baby potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes, cut into ¾- to 1-inch pieces
  • 1 medium Medium yellow or sweet onion, cut into ½-inch wedges or chunks
Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried parsley
  • ¾ teaspoon, or to taste Kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and dry them very well. Cut them into evenly sized ¾- to 1-inch pieces.
  2. Cut the onion into fairly large ½-inch wedges or chunks so the pieces hold their shape and do not burn.
  3. Toss the potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning or dried parsley, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes if your appliance requires preheating.
  5. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a mostly single layer and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Add the onion wedges, toss or shake the basket, and continue cooking for 8 to 12 minutes, shaking once more near the end.
  7. Check that the potatoes are browned and crisp outside and tender in the center. Add 2 to 3 minutes if necessary.

Notes

Dry the potatoes thoroughly and avoid overcrowding the basket. Cook in two batches if needed for better air circulation. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat in the air fryer until hot and crisp.
