Step-by-Step
- Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil. Cook the short pasta according to the lower end of the package directions, usually 8 to 10 minutes, until just al dente.
- Drain the pasta thoroughly and let it steam-dry briefly, or pat it dry with a clean kitchen towel. Excess moisture can prevent the pasta from becoming crisp.
- Transfer the warm pasta to a large bowl. Add the olive oil, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper, then toss until every piece is evenly coated.
- Arrange the pasta in a mostly single layer in the air-fryer basket. Air-fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
- Check the texture and continue cooking in 1 to 2 minute increments if needed. The pasta chips will firm up slightly as they cool, so avoid cooking them far beyond crisp.
- Serve the chips warm or at room temperature with marinara, pizza sauce, or another favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Dry the drained pasta well and avoid crowding the air-fryer basket. Cook in batches when necessary for the best browning and crispness. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container and re-crisp briefly in the air fryer before serving.
