Step-by-Step
- Preheat the air fryer to 370°F for about 3 minutes if your model recommends preheating.
- Spread the softened butter evenly over one side of each bread slice, covering the surface all the way to the edges.
- Place the cheese between the bread slices with the buttered sides facing outward.
- Place the sandwich in the air-fryer basket in a single layer. If the fan lifts the top slice, secure it with a toothpick during the first few minutes.
- Air-fry for 3–4 minutes, then carefully flip the sandwich.
- Cook for another 3–4 minutes, until both sides are golden and crisp and the cheese is melted.
- Rest the sandwich for 1 minute before slicing and serving. Remove any toothpick before eating.
Notes
Use softened butter for an even coating and check early because thin bread or a small air fryer may brown in 2–3 minutes per side. Dense bread or thick cheese may need about 1 additional minute.
