Step-by-Step
- Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels. Combine baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper, then toss the wings in the seasoning mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C), if preheating is required. Arrange the wings in a single layer and cook for 20–24 minutes, turning or shaking halfway through.
- Increase the air fryer temperature to 400°F (204°C) and cook for another 3–5 minutes, until browned and crisp. Confirm that the thickest pieces reach at least 165°F (74°C) internally.
- While the wings cook, gently sauté the minced garlic in melted butter for 30–60 seconds, just until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
- Transfer the hot wings to a bowl and toss immediately with garlic butter, Parmesan, parsley, and optional lemon juice. Serve right away with extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
For especially crisp skin, refrigerate the seasoned uncovered wings for 1–8 hours before cooking. Do not crowd the basket, and add the garlic butter and Parmesan just before serving so the coating does not soften the skin.
