Crispy Air Fryer Baked Sweet Potatoes (Easy & Perfect)

Crispy Air Fryer Baked Sweet Potatoes

Whole sweet potatoes become crisp-skinned and tender-centered in the air fryer with very little preparation. This simple method makes four satisfying servings in about 40–55 minutes.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes
Total Time 45 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 Medium sweet potatoes, about 7–8 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
Optional Seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes well, then dry them thoroughly. Pierce each potato 6–8 times with a fork, rub evenly with olive oil, and sprinkle with kosher salt and optional black pepper.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) if your manufacturer's instructions recommend preheating. Arrange the potatoes in a single layer with space around each one.
  3. Air-fry for 35–45 minutes, turning each potato once halfway through. Continue cooking until a fork or thin knife slides easily into the center.
  4. Rest the baked sweet potatoes for 5 minutes. Split them open, fluff the flesh with a fork, and serve with your favorite sweet or savory toppings.

Notes

Choose potatoes of similar size so they finish together. Do not wrap them in foil because foil traps moisture and prevents crisp skin. If the skins brown before the centers soften, lower the air fryer to 375°F and continue cooking until tender. Very large potatoes may need 50–60 minutes, and a very soft center is approximately 205–210°F (96–99°C).
