Step-by-Step
- Chop the two Milky Way bars into small pieces. For a smoother milkshake, place the candy in a microwave-safe bowl with 1 tablespoon of the measured milk and heat for 15–20 seconds at a time, stirring between intervals, until softened; let it cool briefly.
- Add the vanilla ice cream, remaining milk, softened Milky Way mixture, and chocolate syrup to a blender. Blend on low speed first, then increase to medium.
- Blend just until the milkshake is smooth and creamy, usually 20–30 seconds. Avoid overblending, since too much blending can make the shake thin.
- Check the consistency before pouring. Add 1–2 tablespoons more milk only if the shake is too thick to pour, blending briefly after each addition.
- Pour the finished milkshake into two chilled glasses. Leave a little room at the top for whipped cream and sauce.
- Top with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or caramel sauce. Garnish with extra chopped Milky Way pieces if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
Whole milk gives the thickest, creamiest texture. Use less milk for a spoon-thick shake and the optional extra milk for a thinner, more drinkable consistency. Four fun-size Milky Way bars can replace two standard bars. Chilling the glasses helps the milkshake stay thick.
