- Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning, chopped jalapeño, cilantro, garlic, and lime juice to a blender or food processor.
- Blend until the mixture is smooth and evenly green, pausing to scrape down the sides if needed.
- Add the buttermilk or milk one tablespoon at a time, blending briefly after each addition, until the dip reaches your preferred thickness.
- Taste the dip and adjust with more jalapeño for heat, more lime juice for brightness, or a pinch of salt if needed.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Chill for 1–2 hours when possible for the best flavor.
Notes
Remove the jalapeño seeds and inner ribs for a milder dip, or leave some or all of them in for more heat. Use less liquid for a scoopable dip and more for a pourable dressing. Keep covered and refrigerated.
