Ingredients

Frappuccino
  • 1 cup Ice
  • 1 cup Cold 2% milk, whole milk, or oat milk
  • 1 teaspoon Unsweetened matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons Vanilla syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Peppermint syrup
Topping
  • as needed Whipped cream
Optional Drizzle
  • 1–2 teaspoons Vanilla or peppermint syrup

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Add the matcha powder and about 2 tablespoons of the cold milk to a small cup. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  2. Pour the whisked matcha mixture into a blender. Add the remaining milk, vanilla syrup, peppermint syrup, and ice.
  3. Blend for approximately 30–45 seconds, stopping as soon as the drink is smooth and thick. Avoid blending longer than necessary because the ice can melt and make the frappuccino thin.
  4. Pour the frappuccino into a tall glass. Finish with whipped cream and, if desired, a small drizzle of vanilla or peppermint syrup.

Notes

Use culinary-grade matcha; ceremonial-grade matcha is not necessary. If using sweetened matcha powder, reduce the vanilla syrup to 1 tablespoon or omit it initially. For a thicker drink, freeze the milk in ice-cube trays or use slightly more ice. As a substitute for peppermint syrup, use 1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract plus 1 tablespoon additional vanilla syrup, remembering that extract is much stronger than syrup.
