Ingredients

Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 tube, about 11 ounces Refrigerated breadstick dough
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
Apple Dipping Sauce
  • 1 cup Unsweetened or regular applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Caramel ice-cream topping

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment.
  2. Separate the refrigerated breadstick dough into individual pieces. Twist each piece once or twice and arrange the dough on the prepared baking sheet with space between the sticks.
  3. Brush the shaped dough evenly with the melted butter.
  4. Stir together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  5. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes, or until the sticks are lightly golden and cooked through.
  6. Stir the applesauce and caramel ice-cream topping together in a small bowl. Serve the dip with the warm cinnamon sticks.

Notes

Keep the dough chilled until you are ready to shape it. Remove the sticks as soon as they are lightly golden because overbaking can make them dry and hard. For a warmer dip, microwave the applesauce-caramel mixture gently, stirring every 15 to 20 seconds, and do not boil it.
