Ingredients

Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup (226 g) Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 8 oz package (226 g) Full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups (300 g) Granulated sugar
  • 1 large Large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (360 g) All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Cinnamon-Sugar Coating
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Cream the softened butter, softened cream cheese, and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the cream-cheese mixture just until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until firm enough to handle.
  4. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Stir together the coating sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  5. Scoop or roll the chilled dough into approximately 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar. Arrange them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes per batch, until the cookies look set but remain pale and soft. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Use fully softened butter and cream cheese, but do not melt them. Chilling is important because the cream cheese makes the dough soft. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container.
