Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface if needed, then cut it into approximately 32–35 small squares.
- Place one piece of mozzarella in the center of each dough square. Pinch the dough tightly around the cheese, sealing every edge and rolling it into a smooth ball.
- Arrange the dough balls on the parchment in a Christmas tree shape, using progressively fewer balls in each row. Keep the balls touching, add one ball at the top, and use a short row or single ball at the bottom for the trunk.
- Stir the melted butter, garlic powder, and chopped parsley together. Brush approximately half of the garlic butter over the arranged dough balls.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the bread is puffed and golden brown. If the top begins to brown too quickly, loosely cover the tree with foil for the remaining baking time.
- Brush the hot bread with the remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with Parmesan if desired. Serve immediately with warm marinara or pizza sauce in a small bowl beside or beneath the tree.
Notes
Seal each dough ball firmly so the mozzarella stays inside while baking. Keep the pieces evenly sized for a recognizable tree and even baking. Serve shortly after baking while the cheese is hot and stretchy.
