Step-by-Step
- Spread the refried beans evenly over the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish or shallow serving platter.
- Stir the sour cream and taco seasoning together in a small bowl until smooth and evenly seasoned. Spread the mixture over the refried beans.
- Spoon the prepared guacamole over the sour cream layer. Spread it gently with the back of a spoon so the layers remain distinct.
- Spread the salsa evenly over the guacamole, making sure excess liquid has been drained if the salsa is watery.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican-blend cheese evenly across the salsa.
- Finish with sliced black olives, diced tomatoes, and optional sliced green onions.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Drain watery salsa and tomatoes to prevent a loose dip. For a thicker, richer variation, blend 4 ounces softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup sour cream, then add taco seasoning.
