Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 8-ounce can Refrigerated crescent-roll dough
  • 1 medium Firm medium apple, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
Optional Ingredient
  • 1/4 cup Finely chopped pecans

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or small baking dish.
  2. Mix the packed brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Stir in the finely chopped pecans if using.
  3. Separate the chilled crescent dough into eight triangles. Brush each triangle lightly with melted butter, then sprinkle it with some of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  4. Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each dough triangle. Roll the dough around the apple, beginning at the wide end and finishing at the pointed end.
  5. Arrange the wrapped apples point-side down on the prepared pan, leaving space between them. Brush the tops with the remaining butter and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the crescent dough is puffed and golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Cool the bites for several minutes before serving. Enjoy them plain or with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

Notes

Choose a firm, slightly tart apple such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn. Keep the dough chilled, use evenly sized apple wedges, and avoid overfilling. For a stronger apple-pie flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg or a small pinch of salt to the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
