Cook Time 1 hour
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 servings

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/16 teaspoon Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Neutral-flavored vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Optional Addition
  • 1 tablespoon Chocolate chips

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Use a microwave-safe mug with at least 12-ounce capacity. Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, then stir thoroughly to break up any lumps.
  2. Add the milk, neutral-flavored vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until a smooth batter forms, scraping the bottom and sides of the mug so no dry flour or cocoa remains.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips if using. Microwave on HIGH for 60–90 seconds, beginning with 60 seconds and adding 10–15-second intervals only if needed.
  4. Remove the mug carefully and let the cake stand for 1 minute before eating. The cake should be risen and mostly set, with a center that may still look slightly moist.

Notes

Microwave power varies, so avoid overcooking. A wide mug promotes more even cooking than a narrow cup. Serve immediately with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, powdered sugar, or extra chocolate chips.
