Step-by-Step
- Line a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving enough overhang on the sides to lift the chilled bars out later.
- Stir together the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and 3/4 cup peanut butter until evenly combined.
- Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared pan, paying special attention to the corners.
- Melt the chocolate chips with the remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter using short microwave intervals and frequent stirring, or use a gentle double boiler.
- Spread the chocolate mixture over the peanut butter base and smooth the surface.
- Refrigerate for about 1 hour, until firm. Lift the slab from the pan using the parchment, let it stand at room temperature for 5-10 minutes, and cut into squares with a warm, dry sharp knife.
Notes
Press the base very firmly so the bars hold together. Do not overheat the chocolate; use 20-30-second microwave bursts and stir often. Store covered in the refrigerator for the firmest texture.
