Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan; a 9 x 5-inch pan may also be used for a shorter loaf.
- Stir the creamy peanut butter and milk together in a mixing bowl until mostly smooth. Room-temperature ingredients are easier to combine.
- Add the self-rising flour and stir just until no dry streaks remain. Avoid overmixing.
- Transfer the thick batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for approximately 40 to 50 minutes, until the top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool the bread in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove it and let it cool further before slicing.
Notes
Use regular creamy peanut butter rather than very oily natural peanut butter. Let the loaf cool before slicing because the crumb firms as it cools and may seem gummy when cut hot.
